“Allegory”

The woman in the summer dress

passed me by.

Her oasis eyes and baking soda smile

slithered up my spine.

Tucked under her arm,

hidden, her newly purchased book.

Tucked under her charm,

hidden, her routinely lonesome look.

I know not the hidden story.

That in itself an allegory.
