“A Long, Long Way”

For lovers, a destiny;

a simple reunion of separated substance.

For these atoms have come a long, long way.

Humans all of one shape and fabric;

each merely awaits the muted atavist call.

For these Adams have come a long, long way.

Nights collect stories, nights collect yearning.

Every day’s preceding eve to precede another eve’s beginning.

For these eves have come a long, long way.

We spend those nights yearning for familiarity.

To certain beings simply are we drawn; with whom are we one.

For these Eves have come a long, long way.

A long, long way.

Transcending time, formed from clay.

A long, long way.

Love not arbitrary, none led astray.

A long, long way.

I love you, for it can be no other way.
